Outreach
Local Mission Teams
Several projects a year are completed by our in-house mission teams. We answer the call whenever possible to assist our elderly members and neighbors with repairs and new projects such as handicap ramps, fixing and hanging doors, deck repairs, and yard work. These dedicated volunteers give of their time to assist others in need. The Serving Ministries Council always welcome new helping hands! Please contact the church office if you are interested.
Community Thanksgiving Dinner
With sponsors from various local banks, businesses, churches, the Azle Ministerial Alliance, and individuals, First Methodist Church of Azle hosts a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner open to the public on Thanksgiving Day at our facility. We invite all who would like to share a delicious meal to join with others for fellowship and thanks-giving. We deliver meals by reservation to the homebound who cannot join us. In 2023, we served 500 meals.
Azle Community Garden
First Methodist Church of Azle hosts a Community Garden on Main Street that grows food for local food banks and allows individuals to rent plots to grow their own food as well. The cost of the electricity to run the automatic watering system is covered by the plot rentals. Come GROW with us!

Good Neighbors Project
In 2016 we joined with the City of Azle, Servolution Network, local businesses, other church denominations, and community volunteers to assist local families make much needed repairs they are unable themselves to complete. These repairs bringing
their homes in line with city codes.
Twice a year, in April and October, we gather with 400-500 volunteers for a two-day work weekend to help these families. Work includes new siding, roofs, landscaping, painting entire houses, handicap ramps and much, much more. Since
the cost for these projects is covered by an agreement with the city along with local businesses, churches, and community donations there is no cost to the families. All work is completed by volunteers organized through the Servolution
Network. Please give us a call to join with this project; helping hands of all skill levels are welcome.
Disaster Relief Teams
Some of our most dedicated volunteers have joined our Early Response Team (ERT) and give of their time and money to go to areas hit by natural disasters, fires, tornados, floods, and hurricanes. These volunteers spend from one day to six days
away from home cutting downed trees, covering roofs with tarps, removing debris, and assessing damage for the next set of work crews.
If you would like to join one of the teams please call our office and arrangements to begin training.
