At first UMC we are committed to not only supporting missions financially, but being present to those in need and showing the love of Christ through lending a hand. We believe there isn’t an age requirement to share the love of Christ allowing people of all ages to participate.

Local Agencies we support.

Community Caring Center of Azle: A non-profit organization helping those in need throughout the Azle community and Azle Independent School District. Services provided include: food, clothing, household items, assistance with utilities, emergency dental care & medications, Backpacks for kid’s food programs, Christmas dinner boxes, as well as counseling and referrals.

Eagle Heights Elementary Backpack Program: This program provides nourishment for children who are at high risk for hunger on the weekends. The Backpack for Kids Program is placed at schools where 80% or more of the students are eligible for free and reduced-cost meals. We are proud do partner with The Azle Police Department, Azle Community Caring Center, Tarrant Area Food Bank and other organizations to help provide this much needed ministry to the students in Azle.

Safe Harbor Counseling Center: A full range of counseling services are offered which promote personal growth, positive family relationships and emotional and spiritual well-being. They provide services from a Christian perspective using biblically based principles to live a Christian centered life at home, work, and in the community. Click here to visit their website.

Good N.E.W.S: This is a mission founded in 1997 to help the most vulnerable in our community to remain in their own homes as long as possible by providing a wide array of services like friendly visits, shopping assistance, yard work and minor household repairs just to name a few.

Eagle Mountain Pregnancy Help Center: A non-profit organization ministering to the youngest of those in need in our community, the unborn child. Clients are given diapers, formula, and cloths for their newborn children. Christian counseling is available to address the decision of abortion or life. Many mothers have been brought to Christ through this agency and many children have been saved.

Local Mission Teams: Several projects a year are completed by our local mission teams. We answer the call when possible to assist our elderly citizens with repairs and new projects such as handicap ramps, fixing and hanging doors, deck repairs, and yard work. These dedicated volunteers give of their time to assist others in need.

Good Neighbors Project: In 2016 we joined with the City of Azle, Servolution Network, local businesses, other church denominations, and community volunteers to assist local families make much needed repairs they are unable themselves to complete. These repairs bringing their homes in line with city codes.

Twice a year in April and October we gather with 4 to 5 hundred volunteers on a two day work weekend to help these families. Work includes new siding, roofs, landscaping, painting entire houses, handicap ramps and much, much more. Since the cost for these projects is covered by an agreement with the city along with local businesses, churches, and community donations there is no cost to the families. All work is completed by volunteers organized through the Servolution Network.

Disaster Relief Teams: Some of our most dedicated volunteers have joined our Early Response Team (ERT) and give of their time and money to go to areas hit by natural disasters, fires, tornados, floods, and hurricanes. These volunteers spend from one day to six days away from home cutting downed trees, covering roofs with tarps, removing debris, and assessing damage for the next set of work crews.

The United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) is the second team of volunteers that appear at disasters. They will keep coming back as long as families need assistance with their home repairs and are not covered by insurance.

If you would like to join one of the teams please call our office and arrangements for training will be started.
